Dear Members We are now in a trial period for our new library scheme. A list of books available to borrow and rules concerning the use of the library are on the above "library" link. If anyone would like to borrow any of the books please contact Martin Hickson for details. His contact info is on the library page. Please note that loans will only be made to paid up members of the HT Association. I'd like to thank Martin for the considerable effort he has put into organising the library. I hope you make good use of the scheme and reward him for all his hard work. Regards Chrissie Submitted by Geoff &Chrissie

AGM 2010

We are just home from the 2010 UK AGM. What another great weekend it was. Veterans and new faces came together seamlessly and we had a weekend of great food, drink and superb company. We chatted on into the wee hours about boats (and a host of other things too). We are slightly hoarse from talking way too much. That can't be right can it?
Dinner on Friday night was a relaxed affair with us drifting in slowly to our own private alcove. After our first late night we stumbled down for breakfast, following our 8am swim. The day was free time until the afternoon meeting. Business done we gave out this year's awards and prizes and settled in for the banquet dinner! All excellent! Photos of the season were enjoyed and fun and laughter prevailed. By the second late night it was beginning to show, and the levels on the optics reduced dramatically.
After a Sunday morning swim and breakfast, we were treated to a talk about a canoe trip up the Gironde Estuary following the route of the Cockleshell heros (from the second World War). This was most interesting and entertaining. All too soon it was time to head home. Thanks to all of you who came, for making it such fun. If you weren't here this year, then be sure to join us next time. Put the date (last weekend in January) in your diary now, so you don't miss it. See you there..... New to the website is the beginnings of an archive of all past newsletters. Access to these, will be granted only to paid up members of the Association. There may well be teething troubles with the "paid up members" list, particularly those of you who have signed in with a nickname. If you are a paid member, but unable to access the data, then please let us know so that we can get you signed in. Inital contact to Chrissie at oceanswan@hotmail.com please. The newsletter pages are constantly being added to, so please keep looking at that section to see what's new. Any questions, then please ask. Enjoy...... Submitted by Geoff &Chrissie

USA AGM 2009

I have just returned from the second ever meeting of the US membership in the States, and what a great meeting it was. Seven out of the nine US members were represented, a record achievement! Well done guys. A fantastic group of people came together to swap stories about the boats and their cruising. Everyone became instant friends, with everyone fitting together seamlessly. It was great for me to to be able to go and meet them all, and I was made most welcome. I hope this will be the start of an annual meeting that will continue for many years, much like our UK AGM. I can invisage a time when the US membership attend our meeting, and we go en masse to the USA. Something to contemplate for the future. At the meeting is was voiced that some UK members might like to boat swap with US members (and visa versa), thus getting a foreign sailing holiday without the need to sail the Atlantic. Anyone interested, let me know and maybe I will start a list of interested parties....who knows what might come of it.Regards
Chrissie
